| The head of the company -- who is very knowledgeable and skilled -- was on site during critical parts of the installation and spent time with us explaining details of the installation and subsequent operation. Her employees are professional and did follow-up to help resolve the problems with PEPCO. Maryland Solar was selected as a subcontractor by our main contractor, Asset Construction, with our approval. | Maryland Solar did a great job from start to finish. I considered about 5 companies, but Maryland Solar was the only company that I felt cared about my investment, not just my sale. Communication was outstanding throughout the entire process. Dan was providing me updates several times a week as to where things were, and Colette did an outstanding job answering all of my questions.
The system was up and running in only 3 weeks from the time we signed the contract! The crew doing the installation was professional and prompt. I made my decision based on the fact that Maryland Solar Solutions was the only company that I felt cared about my long term investment. All the others just wanted to sell me the latest greatest, but really could not answer the question of reliability. | We chose to buy a very large residential system to provide for as much of our use as possible. Our system includes 19,040kW of PV panels and a 40-tube collector for hot water heating. Roof space limitations and some shading issues steered us toward high efficiency PV panels. We asked for bids from 4 different firms. Aurora Energy very clearly offered the best combination of value, technology, knowledge, and installation experience. The job was finished very professionally, and Aurora is still following up with all the necessary state approvals and related paperwork. If you need further endorsement, please note that SunPower (maker of the world`s most efficient solar panels) has designated Aurora Energy as the only "premier" SunPower dealer in Maryland. Regarding the low importance I placed on power "reliability": with net-metering, I don`t care when the power is generated - we still get credit for it. Of course, I still count on the system to produce well on sunny days.
In my opinion the systems will pay for themselves within a reasonable time (about 6-8 years), and then we`ll have many years of free/very low cost power.
